Federico Bertolucci is a comic artist and illustrator. After graduating in arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara and after taking a course in comics at the Disney Academy in Milan, in '98 Bertolucci began his collaboration with Disney Italy with some stories for the weekly Topolino magazine (Mickey Mouse).
Soon he started working mainly for Witch magazine where, in addition to numerous issues of the regular series, he was able to realize also several special issues and the first Panini sticker album dedicated to Witch characters.
He produced a short story for the magazine Monster Allergy, several interior pages and two covers (design and color). With Disney he still collaborates with other series such as "PK", "I gialli di Topolino", "Fairies" and other projects developed by the Academy as part of the Disney comic transposition of some successful animated movies ("Monsters, Inc." "Lilo and Stitch").
Meanwhile in France he published two books for Soleil Productions titled "Richard Coeur de Lion", written by Brrémaud, where he took care of the drawings and the colouring. In 2008 the book was published also in Italy and Spain for Planeta DeAgostini.
He made the drawings for the book of gags "Les tennismen" by Editions Bamboo, written once again by Brrémaud, this time in collaboration with Reynès.
In 2006 he was invited to draw a short story for a digest published by Soleil Productions.
In November 2009 he published the comic book Rocambole for Delcourt publisher. The story was once again written by Brrémaud, with whom, in 2011, he won the "Grand Guinigi - Special Jury Award" at the Lucca Comics festival for the book "The Tiger". The book was the first title in the series called "Love", which second book is called "The Fox" and the third - "The Lion", published in France by Editions Ankama and translated in Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and Germany.
Bertolucci also worked with other foreign publishers such as Mosaik (Germany), Egmont (Denmark), Mattel (USA).
In 2007 he started working as an illustrator for several publishers of children's books: Piemme Edizioni, Mondadori Ragazzi and EL edizioni. In 2009 EL edizioni published the first 7 issues of the book for children "Dinodino, avventure nel giurassico" (written by Stefano Bordiglioni) with drawings by Bertolucci.
Currently, in addition to the renewed collaboration with the weekly Topolino magazine, he is working on a new series for children entitled Little Stories, a mix of cartoon and illustration, created once again together with Brrémaud.
